Happy holidays from Halo!
How’s everyone doing? I feel like this is a loaded question. The holidays can bring on so many emotions. Something that's usually a joyous time for many can be challenging for others.
Making holiday memories
I sit here writing this as my daughter and two nieces decorate gingerbread houses. Listening to Christmas music and giggling. It warms my heart watching their concentration and how they're helping each other. This may have taken me a little longer to write, as they’re asking me for help every five minutes.
It's totally worth it, as I know how time flies. Lexi will be 13 this December. Her time with us is so limited lately, as she's with her friends a lot more. As she should be. Next will be Bree, then of course Paytyn. I cherish my time with these beautiful people that I am lucky to call my family.
Before I had Paytyn and got married, I used to get a little funky around the holidays. I still can sometimes.
My goal for the month of December is to cherish the happy times, and let myself feel what I’m feeling at other times. I’ve talked about self care in my past newsletters. And that's a goal that I’m going to continue to practice. Do more yoga. Spend time with friends. Have my weekly check in with Mark. The things that are all good for my soul.
When times get busy, like during the holidays, we (I) can forget about self care. Even when we need it most. So I’m challenging myself and all of you. Do nice things for yourself. Bring a friend along with you. Spread the self care love. Inspire someone else to do so. When we fill our cup, we are more able to handle the busy or tough times that come our way.
Changes to our online booking system
On another note, as some of you might have already noticed, I have changed salon softwares again. GlossGenius was just not doing it for Halo. Something that looked great on the one hand was causing me and the team a lot more work on the other. I made the switch to Phorest, which is more equipped to support a bigger salon like Halo. We’re already noticing the positive effects now. If you’re having any issues or have any suggestions, please let me know as we grow with Phorest.
Next on the list of change and growth will be our new website. I’ll keep you all posted on when we're ready to launch. My goal is to always be growing and evolving with the times.
