Up to 40% off select retail & introducing spray tan punch cards

Hey there Halo friends,

It’s March. We can officially say we made it through February.

Man! It has been a tough winter! Between the cold, the snow, and all the sickness, I'm ready for spring. But we all know that in New England, the weather is so unpredictable. So I thought of a few things Halo can offer as a pick me up because I know we could all use it.

Spring cleaning - up to 40% off retail

For the month of March, all retail is 20% off.

Plus, we will have some select products on sale for 40% off for a little spring cleaning.

Stock up on your favorites or try something new, all at a discounted rate.

Spray tan punch card - get a FREE spray tan

Have you had a spray tan at Halo yet?

Both Stephanie and Mary are Aviva certified. Most people worry about turning orange, but I always tell interested clients they couldn't be in better hands. Mary and Steph are pretty fair, so they understand the concern. Before your appointment, they'll consult with you so you can find the perfect shade that makes you feel your best.

With spring on the mind, we're introducing a spray tan punch card to get you ready for prom, semi-formal, or even your next vacation.

When you come in for a spray tan, we'll give you a punch card at the front desk. After your second spray tan, your third tan is on us! Whatever spring event you're looking forward to, you’ll feel ready to “glow.”

Spray tan punch cards are valid through the end of 2026.

Product of the month

After a long winter indoors dealing with the heat and dry air, your hair could use a little shine. That's why Goldwell's Rich Repair shampoo is our March product of the month.

Good for dry or damaged hair, this shampoo repairs your hair from the inside out, leaving you with clean, rejuvenated hair smelling of warm jasmine and gardenia.

Pick up a bottle the next time you're in Halo and enjoy 20% off.

International Women’s Day

Before I sign off, I'd like to leave you with a quote in honor of International Women's Day. Judith Dayal's words inspired me to be bold, to take up space, and remind the women in my life (and reading this newsletter) that we're unstoppable. Our voices, opinions, accomplishments, and stories matter, even when others try to dim our light.

Community Spotlight

by Julia Mongeau

This month, I caught up with Danielle Festa, the Executive Director of The Aplomb Project. You might remember her from our March 2024 spotlight.

The Aplomb Project is an “organization that uses the transformative power of art to uplift trauma survivors, promote creative healing, and present inclusive artistic opportunities.”

Since we last spoke, The Aplomb Project has a new home in downtown Dover, NH.

“It has been incredible bringing our art space to a larger downtown spot,” Danielle said. “We have the opportunity to invite more people in who didn't know they needed to discover a creative and holistic space like ours.”

“They may come in to see art but stay and return for the opportunities to carve out creative time for themselves that feeds their soul with good vibes,” Danielle said.

Besides the art gallery, visitors can also find an art cafe and healing space at Aplomb.

At the cafe, art supplies are on the menu. Visitors are welcome to sit and make art with friends or other members of the community, with an art barista available to guide them. There’s something for everyone at the art cafe, even “those who consider themselves exclusively ‘stick-figure artists’,” Danielle said.

“Scientific evidence shows us that time spent away from phones, in community, and with art tools in hand, produces oxytocin and improves our mood.”

Of course, you can also visit the art gallery. This month, the gallery will open its next exhibit, “Hope Is.” Inspired by Emily Dickinson’s poem, eight artists combined the artistic disciplines of poetry and art to create works that embody Dickinson’s uplifting words and represent what hope is to them.

The exhibit invites visitors to take part in spreading the message of hope and resilience. Before you leave, write what hope is for you on a wildflower seed paper envelope and leave it for another visitor. Take another one home for yourself and plant it. As the warmer months arrive and the wildflower grows, you’ll have a visual reminder that hope persists, and flourishes, within a supportive community.

“At a time when winter feels long and world events feel overwhelming, we could all use extra hope,” Danielle said.

While Aplomb has grown significantly in the past few years, Danielle knows they can still expand their impact. People can participate virtually via Zoom, and are always welcome at the downtown location. There’s something for everyone, with art classes like Danielle’s favorite, mixed-media, or other trauma-informed healing services.

Danielle remains committed to painting portraits of trauma survivors who trust her with their stories. As you may recall, Danielle started the Aplomb Project after her cousin opened up about her own experience with sexual assault. Danielle painted her cousin’s portrait to remind her of her strength and resilience, and was inspired to do the same for other survivors.

“Some may think that hearing about trauma consistently would wear me down,” Danielle said. “I feel that the project actually does the opposite; it feeds my soul. Every time a survivor comes to me, they are ready to heal, and no matter what they have been through, they are choosing to define their own destiny.”

Eight of her portraits will be on display at this year's gala and exhibition in Wakefield, MA. Join Aplomb’s newsletter to find out more: theaplombproject.org/join-ma

In times like these, we could all use some hope, healing, and community. The Aplomb Project is a beacon of hope and a sanctuary for the community. Check out their virtual offerings, or take a drive to Dover and visit the space.

“Together, we can show others that they are not alone and that a creative and supportive community is waiting for them,” Danielle said.
